The Simplest way to get people to upgrade is for Failbook, Twittterer and DoucheRoulette to not support and flat out not load in IE 6. Then 90% of the people who still use it to waste time on these sites will upgrade before the shakes and withdrawals set in…
I can’t understand why this is still an issue. Development just needs to stop for it. There is no reason for any other option.

I got some terrible virus because of IE which I don’t even use, but it’s automatically in my PC. Ack! Wish I could afford a MAC.

Technically, Microsoft itself has declared the death of ie6. Funeral was held March 5th

IE will always suck, no matter what version it is.
Also, I don’t think flash will be obsolete any time soon. HTML5 will help, but people will still use it for widgets and animations because it’s easier than JavaScript. =/
