Comments on: why the iphone isn’t for me

WWDC is every year, but the results of this conference were not that stunning in my opinion. Iphone is fun, I like the fact various people are experimenting with developing their own apps (lots of good stuff is being done). But like you said – it’s becoming a social status, that is what I dislike about it. People are judging others on materialism, in other words if you have an iPhone or not.

I already have mine for almost a year, a US version, although the official dutch release in the Netherlands is 11th of July 2008, people seem to find it interesting that I have it. Even people on the streets, complete strangers, come up to me asking if they could have a look. (Like I am a celebrity or something). I just see it as a phone, one of the many tools to communicate.

I could have chosen many other phones, but as a designer I am an apple fan. Not for the status, but for the convenience.

It’s also sad if you would use a phone to be liked by people or your friends. It’s the personality & character that shows what you’re all about, not the things you own/have.

but for some reason i still want one… like really bad. i think Steve Jobs planted a chip in my head that plays a constant advertising message that tells me that i need to buy his overpriced items. i hate the phone just as much but damn… that phone would get me so much vajayjay!

i absolutely agree 100%. i hate phones, all phones. i hate talking on the phone and i hardly ever answer it, much less call people back. i would much rather text. the ONLY reason why my phone isn’t the cheapest one in creation, is due to the fact that i wanted a decent camera on it since i do not have an actual camera anymore. but when i did have a camera, i was all about my cheap ass, discontinued, crappy little phone!
