January 30, 2008

this is a collection of images my good friend trish sent me. i got a kick out of it.

it made me realize two things:

  1. the abundance america has
  2. the amount of waste each human produces each week.

Eaten in one week
Eaten in one week
Eaten in one week
Eaten in one week
Eaten in one week

don’t worry, i don’t think you are fat. maybe phat?

all in all, i am glad at least one person is smiling in every picture. and yes, that makes me smile.

very interesting and thought provoking. i mean, it provokes. and, it thoughts. oh. wait.

i do think it would be interesting to know which countries correspond to the photos.

make it happen.

The one that makes me laugh is the fat little kid standing in front of the dozen or so 2-liter bottles of soda his parents buy him every week. Ugh the parents should be ashamed.

So I got this email awhile ago and I too found it extremely thought provoking and amazing. I attached the info that goes before each picture in order which tells the country the family and the amount of money they are spending on this food each week. hOpe this helps:)!!!

Remarkable images of families from different parts of the world. They’re surrounded by the food they consume in one week; we’re also told the cost of that food.

Germany : The Melander family of Bargteheide
Food expenditure for one week: 375.39 Euros or $500.07

United States : The Revis family of North Carolina
Food expenditure for one week: $341.98

I am sorry, but you can do this same thing with all Americans and get the same result. We do not starve other ppl. or other contries. their leaders do. I am slightly offended that the last comment made was, “don’t worry, i don’t think you are fat. maybe phat?

all in all, i am glad at least one person is smiling in every picture. and yes, that makes me smile.” umphh…

damn gina!?! my ramblings are far from political. rip your heart out of your chest and attach some wings!

You know better than to post uncredited images. You did not take these photos, and a tiny amount of research would have shown you who did. You do not own the images, and are breaking copyright by posting the photos.

Shame on you. Again – you know better.

These images were stolen from a book “Hungry Planet -
What the World Eats” by Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio

What?!? You didn’t know I am an international traveler with a camera in hand that focuses on what the world eats? I didn’t state that in my bio?!?

Fuck off.

mr.diggles // November 4th, 2008 // 11:55 pm

Seriously, Sithean you are a darsh.
Shame on you for being a darsh.
Did I mention Sithean was a darsh?
