the movie they live came out in 1988 and was directed by john carpenter. it is sooo good. here is the short plot by imdb:

A drifter discovers a pair of sunglasses that allow him to wake up to the fact that aliens have taken over the Earth.

i personally believe that this plot is real. shape shifters, reptilians and beings from another dimension have control of our minds.

1 year with the ladies

it was one year ago today that vera and dottie came home with me. they were so small.

i have known jeffrey since i was in the 7th grade. i just started at north clackamas christian school and on my second week i was supposed to memorize all the books of the bible. well, jeffrey was in 8th grade and we shared the same bible class and during the test he somehow could tell i was struggling – so since he was sitting next to me he helped me cheat. the reason he knew all the answers was because he was born from missionary parents in zimbabwe… or was it nigeria? is this why he keeps asking me to hold onto his millions of dollars in my bank account?

jeffrey is one of my closest and dearest friends. we have countless memories together. here are a few i love the most:

when i talked about how good my brakes were on my car just before we slid into an intersection and onto a lawn
the time those girls who we had never met flew us to ohio to go to prom and their dad forced us to wash his car
playing video games at chili’s when we were supposed to be working and getting caught by the manager
going to fx and all the raves – those we djed at and those we danced at
our trip to victoria with graeme when you ate total shit on that scooter and bled in the car then went missing
when you and adler got into a “hit each other in the face” contest
all the soccer games we player together
going to sleigh bells together when i was a freshman
teepee’ing mr. gaults house like over 50 times

i could make this list above a mile long. i love you jeff and value our friendship more than you know. happy birthday to you and marilyn manson.

tyler stenson tribute

i have known tyler stenson for well over a decade. his brother garett and i became friends and early on i was invited over to garett’s place and tyler was this quiet fellow walking around with an acoustic guitar.

tyler was one of the founding pillars of db clay so needless to say we have spent many hours together. he is one of the most talented musicians i have ever met and he has been faithfully following his dream since i can remember. this video below was recently released and i thought it would be good to share. it really captures his passion and journey.

db clay employee of the month

this goes back to 2005 when db clay was deep in the mix. we used to do a lot of shows that required us to take credit cards on site and we used a janky knuckle breaker to capture peoples info. well sometimes when i was lost in the hustle i would accidentally make an impression of the card sans a couple of numbers. so when you would go to enter the credit card into the system you couldn’t because you didn’t have the whole number. garett hated me for this.

well, even though it was my fault in the first place, i took the time to figure out the two missing numbers from this credit card then took it upon myself to create an “employee of the month” poster for the office to bask in my greatness.

to follow this up, tyler made a poster to get garett off the streets for good.

dubstep: the techno savior

i have been listening to techno, which later evolved into electronic music, for about 20 years now. i got my first techno cd when i was 11 years old and it was called techno truth vol 1 and it blew my young mind. ever since i have been hooked.

now let me explain my tragedy with electronic music. i love the shit. like it has been the center of my universe since that day when i was eleven. but here’s the rub – the culture sucks total balls. whenever i tell people i am a fan of electronic music the two following images usually arise:

now this has caused me to have a considerable complex. i have always been very let down by the leaders of the industry since there never really has been a spokesperson for the genre. some have gotten close such as moby but he was too worried about people eating animals and shit like that. other leaders have furthered the sterotype such as dj keoki who heavily promoted the drug and rave culture:

i remember back in the late 90′s early 2000′s paul okenfold put out that transport album that hit it big with fraternity folk since i feel like every time i mentioned i was into “techo” a college kid would pipe up and say “have you heard of paul oakenfold?” yes. and you mean paul jokenfold. well, things have changed in the last 5+ years. dubstep has changed the perception entirely. people fucking love the stuff. so much that shitney spears even put out a track with some bullshet dubstep undertones in it (@2:18):

now i would be lying if i said that i am not fully on the bandwagon. dubstep is some of the most creative and engaging electronic music that has ever emerged and i feel it is changing the way people look at electronic music all together. and as far as i am concerned as long as people don’t think of man on man club music and candy kids with drugs then this is a step in the right direction. a dubstep if you will.

that being said, i wanted to share a few different flavors of dubstep for your listening pleasure. those that are heavy into electronic music know that the genre has sub-genres and even those can break down even further.

dubstep has also kinda become a video meme. people are constantly doing dubstep remixes to videos because it is so funny. this one however is uber tasteless – i couldn’t help myself. however it is topical because i keep telling everyone to not get a flu shot:

my friend ian disagrees with my stance on dubstep being a good thing because he says the music attracts a crappy crowd at the shows. i asked what type of crowd and he sent me this pic and said wanna be gangsters.

the dibbuk box

i remember hearing about this story back in like 2003 from my good friend steve steckly who apparently knew the guy personally that the story is about in the beginning. after he mentioned it i went online and found a website dedicated to the story and sure enough it starts out in portland, oregon.

the story is about this strange little wooden box that ended up in an antique furniture shop and caused all sorts of hell. the owner decided to put the hell box on ebay and as it was continually bought and sold it royally fucked with whoever possessed it.

well since 2003 they have updated the site to something snazzy and apparently they are finishing up a movie that will be released next year.

if you have an extra 15 minutes or so you should read the story. real or not it is a great read.
