this kid reminds me of an australian spicoli. i love how he is not throwing any attitude at all and calling it just how it is and the news reporter is making it seem like he had committed murder because he threw a party. by the end she insists he take of his glasses and apologize to the community – he says no and you can tell it pisses her off. but probably also turns her on. she will probably do what she can to find her way into one of his parties and jump his bones.

nothing makes me feel more warm inside than watching the media make mistakes… especially when they are painful. this is an old video apparently but my friend jake showed me when i was down in california last week.

i love how she tells the other lady to stop then tries to rapidly stomp ahead as if it they were actually competing. in the middle of her clever deuce she slips and eats shit knocking the wind out of herself disabling her clear ability to moan out the pain on live television. beautiful. my junior high shop teacher would be shaking his head if he saw this – damn kids shouldn’t screw around!

it has a nice ending to it when it pans back to the studio and the news anchors couldn’t look less concerned. they try to remain professional while holding back laughter and the inner voice saying omg i am glad that wasn’t me… fuck you tina!

yes… this video is going to make it to my top 10 for sure. it is wonderful for so many reasons.

let’s start with the dialogue:

side note: i know most will think this video is evil. however i have been the kid on the opposite side of the ball many times so i feel no sympathy.

continuing on with why this is funny…

the kid throwing the ball is like barley 12 and the dad is heckling him like he is a college baseball player with a yankees scout watching from afar. furthermore the dad tries to brush off the fact his kid threw the ball into the wrong skeeball lane at high speed.

even though the kid throwing the ball was out if control i still feel little for the kid that got wacked in the head. you can tell by how his head bounces that he is going to be fine but it hurt really really bad.

a british man with autism flies over rome once in a helicopter and is able to recreate a huge, perfect panorama of the city. it takes him three days to complete his drawing. this is one of the greatest things i have ever seen.

cnn pulls out the oversized headline

i am a cnn.com junkie. for some reason i have always liked the layout and it usually fills me in on the things i care about. i am starting to get into bbc as of late but cnn will always be my place for news. even though i think ted turner is a wacko.

now, just because i like cnn does not mean i like the media. most of the time they add so much drama to a story that it is nothing more than global gossip. one of my favorite things they do to add shock value to a story is they use a oversized headline that breaks up the traditional format to fit all of the letters. they only pull it out when tragedy hits and they usually use the most graphic words they can.

yesterday after the school shooting at Virginia Tech they pulled out some real gems. such as: BLOODBATH ON CAMPUS. i am sure the family’s of the victims loved that one. later in the day they got bored with that line so they move to the one pictured below.

well i went into their website style sheet to see if they had a section dedicated for these events so they could quickly transform the headline into a terror banner. sure as shit i found something and wouldnâ€™t’ you know – it is called the oversized headline.

i took a snap shot to show it off above but if you want to check out for yourself you can publicly access thier style sheet and search for oversized and you will find it for yourself.

i know this is dorky but this is what i like to do with my time. and from here on out i am going to post all oversize headlines from cnn and see what trend we can get and what events are oversize headline worthy.

hate me if you will but this video makes me laugh out loud every time i see it. it is at the top of my bookmarks because if i am having a bad day this will always cheer me up.
