I agree with you 100% - it lowered the bar. That isn't to say that Obama isn't an amazing person, just nothing stands out that merits a prize like that. Seriously? It's just a hamburger. If there's anything to get worked up about it's Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize. For what? Being elected? He hasn't DONE anything yet. I'm not an Obama hater by any means, but seriously, Nobels should be earned. Right now everyone who's ever won one is thinking, "Crap. Well this doesn't mean much now."
