MacBook Air

today at keynote steve jobs announced the release of the new macbook air.

if you are not a turbo nerd and you don’t know what keynote is – it is the presentation where steve jobs announces new shit for the year. iphone, imac, iwannaknowwhatsnext. this year they had to boast a new laptop that is retarded thin. super duper thin. impossible thin.

specs from the apple site for the geeks:

  • macbook air performance is as impressive as its form, thanks to its 1.6ghz or 1.8ghz intel core 2 duo processor. this chip was custom-built to fit within the compact dimensions of macbook air.
  • the macbook air battery is our thinnest ever, yet it doesn’t compromise power. you can access the web wirelessly for five full hours.
  • macbook air includes an oversize trackpad with multi-touch technology. you can pinch, swipe, or rotate to zoom in on text, advance through a photo album, or adjust an image. this gesture-based input so successful on iphone and ipod touch now comes to macbook.
  • yes there are more… look them up yourself.

now for my opinion. i love apple. i only have one sticker on my car and it is an apple sticker. however i am not too into this launch. i think the name is stooopid. didn’t nike have something like this already? corporate powerhouses should not share hit names. also, i don’t think a slimmer laptop is what people really need. especially at that price point. maybe i am just mad because they didn’t launch something i was excited about. hmmmm…

well, aside from that my friend joeri sent me a link today to expose this underground belief that apple has been mimicking, or stealing to some, product designs from 1960′s braun products. i attached the comparisons below – you can check out one of the articles about this here. weird!

Braun Vs db clay

I agree with your comments. This laptop makes me uncomfortably nervous, and i’m all for the latest and greatest technology. we’ll see how their battery does in this one … i have the powerbook laptop and they had to change batteries because there were overheating problems. I can’t even imagine what sort of intricate cooling system is in this laptop. who knows. maybe its cool, maybe it works.
