i am breaking my 2nd rule
August 19, 2010

the 2nd rule i have made for myself on my blog is to not share personal information about my wife. i abide by this for multiple reasons but more than anything i do it out of respect for her privacy.
but today i want to mention my wife. tracy.
i have been with tracy for close to a decade. we have been married now for over 2 years. we have no kids and probably won’t for a while. we have been thinking about a dog for like ever but still have yet to pull the trigger. tracy and i have had ups and downs like any relationship but we share a bond that we are both convinced is different than most.
2010 has been a tough go for tracy. she has dealt with a lot of injuries and has been in immense pain – but let me tell you why:
tracy used to be a professional snowboarder and she has coached high school snowboarding for the last 7 years. she also surfs, wake boards, wake surfs, paddle boards, skate boards, swims, runs, jumps, climbs, rolls, flips… and yes, falls. tracy is also a certified personal trainer and she willingly goes to bootcamps and i guarantee she can do more pulls ups and burpees than you can. and while most people find this sort of activity painful – it fills her with joy.
in march i got a phone call to find out that tracy had been in an accident up on the mountain. admittedly i wasn’t super freaked out at first since i have been to the emergency room with her well over a dozen times since we met. unfortunately when i finally saw her i found out that it was kind of a big deal. she had dislocated her arm and fractured her back in two spots. this was a tragedy considering she moves a zillion miles a minute and now she had to stop to heal – well, and go to physical therapy twice a week for like 4+ months.
the good news is that she has healed properly and is doing great. the not so good news is that they also found a tear in her hip when she went through her multiple mri’s and now she needs to undergo hip surgery. i think this bummed me out more than her because she found out that through this she will no longer feel pain in her hips or loose feeling in her legs… yeah, whoa. to add to it all recently tracy was out with some friends on a walk and she saw a boston terrier and a french bulldog in someone’s yard near maccadam. so since we are looking at getting a boston terrier she went up to the dog and the dog bit her. we went to the doc and she had to get a tetanus shot and put on penicillin.
holy shit. what a ride.
while these last 6 months have not been the easiest, a lot of joy and growth has come through this experience – in both of us as individuals and as a couple. tracy is my joy and my life inspiration. i like to say that she pulls me out of me. she sees things differently and lights up any room. if you have spent any time with her you know what i am talking about. she is this sweet petite blonde that you would have no idea could do a double back flip on a trampoline with a snowboard duct taped to her feet.
i love you tracy. everytime i hear you karaoke blondie i melt. thank you for being my wife and sticking with me – even when i talk about the moon being hollow and us living in a holographic universe run by reptilians.

Well said my friend, you got a star that lights up everyone’s life
