i am audi version two
April 14, 2010
i am audi version two is now live!
this is a personal project i have been working on for well over a year. while it may just look like a website to you it has been a journey for me. this site was built up and torn down twice before i was happy. the logo was replaced 3 times as well. oh, and the forums – yeah, i rebuilt those 3 times too.
now for my bragging moment: i was the only person to go under the hood on this site. it was built on wordpress and vbulletin. my friend joeri helped out by designing the logo and my friend brian and caleb helped by directing and shooting the videos. i learned a ton about all sorts of shit working on this project but more than anything i learned that nothing is more refreshing and satisfying than working with a group of people that don’t think about what’s in it for me
– but rather how can we make this the best.
a special thanks to scott mitchell for being as passionate as he is. he is the main reason i did all this work. he is a great example of someone who just needs to be enabled. i am proud of you scott!
you can learn about the project here + it would mean a lot of you could share this with others.
so yeah. what’s next?

This project represents a milestone in your life my friend. Having been privileged to observe your process I can say with certainty that your work has never been more vulnerable and honest. You invested countless hours in every pain-staking detail of the site and it shows. I Am Audi has evolved from a simple blog about cars to a brand of passion for those who have poured their creative energy into a vision. The design and execution is nothing short of mastery and you should be proud of yourself Benjamin. Your individual style is unmistakable, your commitment authentic.
I am proud to have been an observer during this process. Design and sizzle come naturally to you, but that wasn’t good enough for I Am Audi and I believe your dedication to the project illustrates your growth as a designer, as a manager, and as a friend.
Cheers to the unveiling. I can’t wait to see where Scott will take this.

What David said. And the 404 page is tops.

Absolutely brilliant. I think you’ve just set a new standard by which all other enthusiast sites will be measured. Not just automotive, but any brand with a strong community of enthusiasts behind it.
I am stunned by the thought that went into this. I am impressed by your ability to follow through and see this to the finish.
Very well done sire.
Consider my hat tipped in your direction.

The web site is beautiful… all bases covered! Great piece of work. Next is a vacation for Mr. Diggles.

Great looking site. And that 404 page is freaking brilliant! Great job, dude.
This is my favorite 404: http://blog.templatemonster.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/slonky.jpg
Can’t remember where I saw that. Did you post it on twitter or something?
