this is why i don’t like going on deep sea adventures anymore. after helping recover titanic wreckage with a snorkel and pair of fins i was done. it’s too cold 2 miles down at the bottom of the ocean. dumb.

i remember when they first caught this footage of this giant squid in japan. i think they ended up catching it and killing it. last year they discovered the oldest known animal alive and they accidentally killed it upon the discovery. humans rule! america!

What the F?! This is definitely the creepiest thing I’ve seen in the last 12 minutes. I won’t tell you what I was looking at 13 minutes ago.
I’d like to eat that thing for Thanksgiving dinner.

I just read the article about the 405 year old clam and I started thinking about how boring that life would be. You sit at the bottom of the ocean and feed on “a constant rain of nutrient-rich phytoplankton” for FOUR HUNDRED AND FIVE YEARS! They cannot move unless the ocean current moves them, but they burrow in the ocean floor to prevent that. I guess the most fun they get to have is when they reproduce, but their method of reproduction doesn’t involve sex so that takes the fun out of it.

I think this is the first time in my life that I’ve felt bad for clams.
