mustaches + ouija boards + petra = balance

there was a small response to me having a mustache in my pictures with graeme posted below. i decided to post the creepiest mustache picture i have of myself. this was may of 2005. roughly 3 months after we officially launched db clay.

this was also the same month garett and i were on a picture binge. we thought everything was worth a snap shot. at one point we went to a thrift store and found this ouija board that dated back to 1962. i thought it was so cool. we brought it back to our studio at the time and decided to have a prop photoshoot. while we decided to pose with it, we both refused to use it. fuck that. my life was stressful enough.

one night garett decided to have this uber boost of creativity. i was not present. i came to work the next morning and garett had painted the board and decided to put a db clay logo on it. i was upset at the time because my original plan was to sell the board on ebay since it was vintage and in really good condition. we got it for $10 and the same board was selling for $72 online.

you know what i call that? a profit margin.

since then we have used this ouija board for various events as our official sign. creepy yes. but if you look in the picture with me alone above you will see directly to my right an LP of petra. we practice balance.

well, pictured below is the board as it sits today. a relic slash art piece now slash blog post. i wish slash could play his guitar right now. dumb.

for the record: i have never have nor do i ever plan to officially use an ouija board and i highly suggest against it. unless you are a total jerk off lookin’ for trouble.
